What to Expect When You Commission a Custom Song
A step-by-step look at what happens from the moment you reach out to the moment the finished song lands in your inbox.
Commissioning a custom song is something most people have never done before. There's no standard expectation for how it works — and that can make the whole thing feel more uncertain than it needs to be. This is a clear, honest look at what the process looks like at Brass Note Studios, from first inquiry to final delivery.
Step 1 — Tell Us Your Story
It starts with the intake form on our contact page. We ask about the occasion, the person or people being celebrated, the emotion you want the song to carry, and any specific details — names, places, memories, inside references — that matter to you. You don't need to have everything figured out before you write to us. Most people don't. We'll ask follow-up questions if we need more.
For organization commissions, this step includes a brief consultation call so we can understand your mission, your community, and the purpose behind the music. That context shapes everything.
Step 2 — We Write the Song
Once we have the story, we write. Every lyric is composed by hand — no templates, no AI-generated text. We shape the narrative arc, decide which details earn a line, and build the song the way a songwriter does: with the specific listener in mind. Genre, tempo, and mood are guided by what you've told us and what the occasion calls for.
We don't write for average listeners. We write for the person who's going to hear their own name in the chorus and feel it.
Step 3 — Production
Once the lyrics are locked, we produce the song using Suno AI — the most precise AI music generation platform available. Every production decision (instrumentation, arrangement, performance style, sonic texture) goes through the Brass Note Labs production framework, a system we've developed and refined specifically to deliver professional-quality results consistently. We listen. We compare. We iterate until the production matches the song.
Step 4 — Revisions
Every order includes three revision rounds. When you hear the first version, you can request changes — lyrical edits, production adjustments, a different feel, a different key. We work with you until it's right. Revisions are collaborative, not transactional. We want you to love the song, and we stay in it with you until that's the case.
What You Receive
- A high-quality MP3 of the finished song
- A PDF or document of the full lyrics
- 3 revision rounds included in every order
- Optional stems (individual tracks) available as an add-on
How Long Does It Take?
Single songs are delivered in 10–14 days. EPs take 2–3 weeks. LPs and full albums run 5–12 weeks depending on volume. If you need it faster, expedited delivery is available as an add-on — cutting turnaround to as few as 5–7 days for singles.
The timeline starts from the point we have everything we need from you — not from the date of purchase. The more complete your intake information is, the faster we can move.
